Supplier Development Engineer

Urgently seeking a supplier development engineer to work from our Horsham site.

The SDE will liaise with new suppliers, understand new processes in order to deliver on time eg stamping, tooling, looking at timing charts, carrying out trials, checking samples and passing off...

Key requirements:

Knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP

Knowledgeable in the use of measurement methods (CMM, Micrometer, Height Gauge)

M.S.A - Measurement System Analysis

Purpose of the Job:

  • To ensure supplier understands the company requirements.

  • To lead the resolution of quality issues relating to non-conformances.

  • To encourage supplier’s continuous improvement culture.

  • Help develop their systems so that they are aligned to our company standards.

  • Liaise with the Suppliers and our Programme Managers to ensure projects are completed on time.

     Key Accountabilities:

  • Monitor and report suppliers process stability and capability by analysing production data.

  • Analyse supplier’s non-conformances and implement required corrective and preventative actions using relevant quality tools.

  • Promote Quality culture via training and visual management tools.

  • Audit suppliers processes and QMS .

  • Oversee suppliers PPAP submission.

  • Create supplier KPI’s and work with supplier to drive continuous improvement.

  • Review suppliers PFMEA and Control Plans.

    Skills and Experience:

  • Track record of achievement within realms of Quality Engineering.

  • HNC or degree qualified with experience in engineering or manufacturing discipline.

  • Fully conversant with engineering and quality principles (including but not limited to SPC, Gauge R&R, DoE, sampling plans).

  • Familiar with range of measuring and inspection equipment and able to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent computer skills (including but not limited to Windows, Office, MS Access/SQL).

  • Good ISO9001/AITF 16949 quality systems knowledge.

  • Strong statistical knowledge with advanced use of statistical software eg Minitab.

  • “Hands on” experience in shop floor and/or quality laboratory environment.

  • Confident, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Work independently and proactively.
